Need help in picking between wordpress and shopify for clothing e-commerce store

Firstly before I explain the situation I should mention that I study web design at uni and that maybe makes me biased on my choice, but it may be the wrong one for this scenario.

Me and my friend want to make a website to revive an old clothing store which we dropped out of because of uni and other stuff. It was built on prestashop by I guy I don't know personally but that website is dogshit and prestashop is dead so I decided as thats what I study, it would be better for me to make the website. The thing is we have until the end of October to get the website running and sales going, so I have maybe around a week to make the website which makes me wonder which one to choose WordPress or Shopify.

I have made only one website on wordpress using woocommerce and a basic template, but my knowledge on the platform is very little and I know only HTML for now (so no coding I guess). I'm leaning towards WordPress as I'm thinking I could use the store to learn how to use wordpress, but at the same time I don't know if a week is enough to get the website working. Also I'm aware that I'm going to run into issues while I set up the store and probably after it gets released into the web, the thing that worries me is to what extent are the issues going to be. Is there an easy way to build a good looking website without a lot of hassle on WordPress?

Maybe using Woocommerce some cool template or by using a no code builder like Divi, Elementor or Bricks?

Or will I go into too much shit when learning how to do it and a week wont be enough so better go with Shopify?

Also last question in my country people prefer paying cash on delivery rather than pay with card and we have two major courier firms who ship through the whole country and they have their own offices. So people choose to pick up stuff from their offices or use the couriers to deliver their goods to their personal address. We need to have COD and maybe integration for the couriers (Speedy and Econt).

Thank you all in advance!!!

  1. I would go Shopify.

Two months ago, I would have said WordPress for the flexibility. But we have now entered a world where WordPress will put weird shit about a lawsuit on their login pages. Or a week ago, a WordPress employee was here mistreating absolutely everybody who disagreed.

WordPress is a dumpster fire. Stay out.

  2. 100% Shopify for Ecommerce
Wordpress for info only sites like a plumber, builder and lawyer.
