Hello!
Context: My dad created a WordPress(woocommerce) website a couple years ago and he gave me the responsibility for updating it and making crucial changes to it.
I have a mediocre understanding about domain and hosting. I’m relatively new to WordPress and I would like to get help obtaining the necessary login credentials to start with.
Also if I need to change the theme, does that mean that I need to start over?
Also I need to change the contents of the navbar, will I need to code?
The website looks very dated and would like to get suggestions for modern themes for a eCommerce site.

For logging credentials, if you have access to the email address of the admin account you can just reset the login.
If you don’t have access to that email address then you need access to the database to manually change it. That means you need the login to the website hosting account.
If you don’t know who the host is there are online tools that can help you figure it out, but your Dad’s credit card statement also probably has that information as he has to pay for it.
You do not need coding knowledge to change the navigation bar.
Changing the theme will not change the content of the website such as the words and images, but it will change the way they appear and we will need to probably make a lot of changes to make it look good again.
The website and teams have not been updated in a long time you better make a backup before you try to do anything. Updating very old themes and plugins can break the site.
There are tons of tutorials online that will help guide you through many of the issues that you are facing. wpbeginner.com is a decent resource to start with along with https://learn.wordpress.org/
