Need help with a steep learning curve

[ad_1]

I have until now had someone who hosted my website on his own server and he did a bit of work for me on the site. Since then I have learnt about my plug ins and how the website works and now he is shutting down his servers and I will need to find another way to keep my website alive.

I have a small eComm website in England and just would like any tips on where to go from here, I suppose find a hosting server, is there anything else?

This is all new to me and I am trying to self learn as quick as I can since starting this business (3 years ago since losing my job to Covid).

Any tips would be appreciated.
Thank you so much!

  1. Find good hosting (imo SiteGround) and let them move the site for you. WordPress sites move. You may need to think about custom emails and such, but you could be moved in very little time.

Make sure domain name is registered in your name.

  2. Personally I would use Flywheel hosting, they’ll migrate the site for you and their hosting and support is the best I’ve found. They use the Google Cloud Platform and provide a Staging as well as production version of your site. They also include daily backups that are easy to roll back. Furthermore, should you want to, you can also use their “Local” desktop app to pull a copy your site down to work on it on a local dev environment, from there you can push with a single click to the staging or production site, and include the database in the push. All very simple and works really well in my experience. I’m sure you’ll get other recommendations, just do your own research into each and choose whichever suits you best.
