New URL not indexed

[ad_1]

Hi,

i recently published an article and changed url and title instantly after posting because i forgot to edit them while writing the article. I did not thought that it would get indexed instantly by Google, but the old url did.

Now the new URL has the following status in Google Search Console:
„Duplicate – Google has designated a different url page than the user as the canonical page“

What is the best way to fix this and get Google to forget the old url so that the „new“ article gets indexed as canon? Would a request for deletion help or just 301 to the new url?
