Newbie generally confused about a few things, help appreciated

I am trying to learn my way through creating a page for our small family business. I started out building in elementor and have moved on from that to using a theme (shapely). I really like the way things are turning out on my homepage using the theme. I am able to use the theme widgets to create areas on the homepage that fit the look I am going for. My problem has risen from wanting to develop other pages of my site with the theme widgets. For example, I have a widget on my homepage that has information for the “Events” page of my website. The widget provides the image and text placement that I want to use on the actual Events page on the site. When I add a new page called Events and go to the customize option in the menu it says *Your theme has 7 widget areas, but this particular page does not display them* when I go to the widgets area of the customize menu. I am understanding this as my theme (Shapely) allows only their widgets to be used on the “Homepage” and no other additional pages. As soon as I try to use widgets on a non “Homepage” page, the theme will not let me. There is no option in widgets section of the appearance menu to let me add a new widget area to my site. So from my understanding, will I have to resort to elementor to build any additional pages on my site? This is disappointing because the theme widgets add a certain aesthetic to the homepage and cannot be duplicated (with my current knowledge and experience) in elementor. Is my reasoning correct here that I am basically handcuffed into using the theme widgets in the designated areas only (homepage, footer 1,2,3,4, shop sidebar, and unused widgets)? This is a simple site with only around 3-4 pages. I would like all the pages to share the same aesthetic that the theme allows me to build on the homepage. Is this attainable? Am I missing some simple concept that will allow me to do this? I am completely self taught with the help of the internet and kind people on forums. Thank you to anyone who might be able to point me in the right direction.

  1. Every theme works differently. As your first port of call, you should contact the theme developer to get clarification from them on how their theme works.

Using widgets as the main form of page content is unusual – they’re usually only use in footers and sidebars.
