Newspaper Theme – Featured Image Help

I am sure I am missing something obvious, but it’s been driving me nuts trying to fix this. Hoping someone can help me out.

Using Newspaper theme. And when my posts are done – the featured image takes up virtually the whole screen, forcing a reader to scroll down just to start reading the article. From what I read, most users will glance at the first paragraph before deciding to finish reading the article.

So what I would to do is have the featured image be dramatically smaller, and I cant figure out a way to do this with Newspaper Theme. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
