Old WordPress website plugin fatal error

[ad_1]

Hello,
I am a WordPress beginner and a friend of mine asked me to help.
Her website was inactive very long and now she does not have access to it due to invalid plugins.
Even the admin menu was not accessible. The hoster sent her some information about the invalid plugins.

What I did:
– via FTP I deleted the plugin files

Afterwards I could login via wp-login but the site is broken. Every page says : ouch the site cannot be found.

My idea: update WordPress version now and then install the broken plugins again.

I would be glad to get a description how to remove such problems.
The WordPress version is 5.2.
For more information DM me.

  1. Hey friend. You’re right to reinstall the plugins from scratch and definitely update the WP version bc 5.2 is quite old. 6.2.2 is the most current release. You may want to also check the php version to make sure it’s 7.4 or higher (preferably 8.1) and update the theme as well. Check if she has any custom code in a child theme that may also be outdated. If it’s still broken after that check php error logs for more info on where the issue is.
