OllieWP Block Themes Approach – Ollie vs Default WP Block Themes

[ad_1]

Moving into the world of block themes, I’m struggling with the new FSE UI/UX experience, but don’t want to give up and revert to Elementor page builder.   Ollie WP seems to be emerging as a good theme, but I’ve not yet caught on documentation nor videos that match up with what I am seeing on my local WordPress installation so far.

It seems the videos that are 11 months old (as of posting) talk about the set-up wizard, which is not available in the WordPress zip.  I can appreciate the push for a consistent UI regardless of theme, that’s not so much of a problem.    The issues I may  have is related to testing this on my local sandbox with WP6.6, not available.

Also, for some reason OllieWP websites was not serving their Docs page – maybe an issue related to the Crowdstrike outage?

So, given the idea of blocks, what is the advantage of Ollie vs just learning and customizing blocks with the default WP 2024 theme?

Any experience with Ollie Pro, and their support?  Do they offer a chat, or is it strictly via forums/email?

My background:

I’ve built and now manage a small handful of websites for clients and friends — semi-retired from 33+ years in tech work.  I worked in tech support and architecture, my coding  training was based in last century (mainframe, and Unix / C pre-web days).    I’m less than a year in to studying native HTML, CSS, and the WAMP stack, so I’m not afraid to venture into an area of WordPress where I can plug in some custom code with AI assistance.
