Page number navigation not working correctly

[ad_1]

Hi All, looking for a nudge in the right direction to help solve a small problem. I’ve been tasked with fixing an issue on my partners wordpress site. I have built websites before and currently maintain a few, but my knowledge of wordpress is basically ZERO. Even then, my knowledge of HTML and CSS is at best quite limited.

Here’s the issue, the WordPress site in question has several hundred articles, and the main page shows the most recently published, which is perfect. The issue is that the page number navigation (as well as the “previous page” and “Next page” links) do seem to take you to page two or three or wherever, but that page just displays the exact same articles as on page one. The articles are all searchable, but I’m hoping to help fix this glaring issue.

I’m yet to even log into wordpress to have a look at what I’m dealing with tbh, I just thought I’d put out some feelers to get an idea of what I’m dealing with.

I’ve read a little about WordPress Pagination, which sounds like it could potentially be a solution. I’m also wondering if Pagination is simply not correctly configured.

Any advice on where to look first or pointers towards articles to read would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
