Password Reset emails not received

Password Reset has stopped working in UM 2.8.0 on my site. When the “reset password page” is filled in and submitted, the system reports that a reset link has been sent but it is not received by the user. The admin does not receive email notification that the user has reset their password either. It was working correctly a few days ago and I have made no changes except to update the UM plugin.

The same behaviour occurs if the admin does a “send user password” from the admin “users” screen. A green banner appears saying that the password reset link has been sent but it is not received.

I have tested this using a dummy user so I am confident the email address is correct.

There is no cache on the site. I have not changed the email settings from when it was working before.
