Permalink Settings for photo blog site

[ad_1]

I am creating a photoblog site. Primary content will be sports. I am just starting out and at this time only shot youth soccer games but I want to branch out in other sports as well. The idea is I will make a blog post about a specific game (it will be a photo gallery) and reach out to teams via FB, IG and email.

I am a back end software developer so my knowledge is lacking about all things front end, UX, SEO, etc.

I have WordPress hosted on my own Windows Server VM so I have full control over everything. It is hosted on IIS + PHP, no other web server software is involved (like Apache).

I am now trying to decide what Permalink Settings to use.

I am thinking I should probably use **Day and name** in this fashion:

Does it make sense?

Should I use full team names or abbreviate them to 3-4 characters? I think with full team names link may become ridiculously long but on the other hand it really doesn’t matter because people wouldn’t be typing it anyway and there is no need to memorize it.

I am also thinking I could use category to differentiate between different sports but it just seems like an unnecessary complication.

Use full team names. Looks better.

If you will create posts about different sports, use Categories.
