Permalinks fail and have to be resaved

[ad_1]

Hey y’all. I have a pretty straightforward self-hosted website that I built for a client 4-5 years ago. It never gives me any troubles. But in the last two weeks the client has called to say their interior pages are throwing 404 errors. Each time I’ve resaved the permalink settings (they’re set to post name even when we’re getting the 404s) and the pages start working again. I’m running the latest version of WordPress and the theme (Enfold), PHP 7.4 IIRC and some the latest versions of some “usual suspect” plugins like GravityForms, Yoast SEO, WP Super Cache, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas why permalink settings are failing? I’ve searched around and haven’t found a solution.
