Please Help!

1 am 20 years old and I work at a doctors office. I started doing social media work for him and then moved on to website design and I know how important SEO is. I recently made a huge mistake and I need help solving it. I watched a video on YouTube on SEO and it told me to change the permalink structure and when I did, WordPress told me to NOT change my permalink structure on a production site. Changing URLs can severely damage your SEO. Which yeah, I should have known. I am a beginner with this stuff and I am just about this close to heart failure! I’ve never been so stressed in my life. I asked ChatGPT how to fix this and they told me to revert back to the old structure (which I did) but it looks like the damage is already done. All the pages are 404 errors now. Thank you so much in advance.

  1. Have you tried simply going to permalinks and saving, then flushing all caches?

  2. I think part of what you’re experiencing might be the fact that you need to update the links on the front-end.

For example, if a visitor goes to your site and clicks a button labeled Services, which would have taken them to yoursite.com/whatever/05/2023/services…

but since you changed the permanent structure to yoursite.com/services…

That button now takes them to a 404.

Is that what you mean by “every page is a 404?”

If so, you’ll just need to go into each page and replace each button’s link with a working URL.
