Plugin for simple post writing that won’t fuck up my formatting?

I am completely new to WordPress and I am creating a simple blog. Text posts with some images and videos on them. Nothing fancy. I just want to be able to make posts where some paragraphs have one line between them and some paragraphs have two lines between them.

Reddit makes it difficult to accomplish this and provide an example but I trust I’ve explained it clearly enough.

I am currently using the free version of Elementor. If I go into the Text tab on the text editor instead of the Visual tab, I can add <br> as needed and everything will look good, but when I return to edit my draft, my <br>s are removed and adding one removes all spacing formatting. If I use the Visual tab or type in the body of my actual post, the spacing between lines is way too big.

I just want to make a simple post with spacing, it shouldn’t be this hard. Any resources or suggestions? Thank you in advance.
