How do you guys price custom requests for WordPress websites? More specifically to customize something on an existing website, usually changes that may go on the child theme.
Per example customize the way a theme behaves.
I work with some agencies that have this kind of requests, but they need me to provide a quote for the work. So they can inform their client. But, given that I never touched the website before nor do I know the theme that’s being used I would need to investigate to be able to provide a quote.
Most of the time, I end up fixing it while investigating.
Do you use like a fixed price and then if it takes longer you get the loss but if it’s something easy you profit more? Do you sell a pack of hours? Do you charge for a discovery session so you can give the final estimate?
