I guess my WordPress updated today or yesterday (I'm not sure because my webhost says they don't support WordPress and I have yet to figure out a webhosting setup that involves me paying for services and then getting software support for a platform like WordPress).
Anyway, it used to be that when I'd copy a URL from somewhere else and paste it into the text, it would automatically create a hyperlink. No longer. It now erases the entire text block (thankfully Cmd-Z-able, which is more than I can say for previous updates with bugs that did NOT allow me to restore in some cases entire articles) and it tells me it can't convert the link I've pasted. I can still create inline hyperlinks with the button at the top of the block editor toolbar but this adds multiple seconds per link and it's thoroughly inconvenient. Any way that I can fix this?
I'm not good at The Computers™ so please don't eviscerate me, I just want my website to work and thank you in advance for your patience and help!
I can’t replicate this on a clean site using the latest update (6.6.1). It sounds like It could be a plugin conflict. I’d suggest deactivating all plugins and trying again. If it works correctly without plugins, reactivate them one at a time and you should be able to identify the culprit.
