Removed WPEngine Plugin Manager – still has control over plugins

We moved from WPE a while back and migrated our sites. We need to update some plugins and there are several that say they are managed by WPE Plugin Manager. I went through the process of removing WPE's /mu folders using the instructions here: How to Remove WP Engine Plugins from WordPress | Quarry

The WPE admin menu is gone, but the plugins still have the "Managed by WP Engine Smart Plugin Manager" link beside them and I can't update the plugin.

Any thoughts as to how to fix or get around this?
