Removing index.php from permalink causes 404 error

Hello all,

I’m fairly new to the inner workings of WordPress and I’d like some help with permalinks.

When I created my site (www.genowrite.com), I noticed that all of my links have /index.php/ included in them (eg. https://genowrite.com/index.php/agency/). I wanted to remove the index.php component from the site, so I removed that part from the permalinks section.

However, when I do that, all of my URLs within genowrite.com (except http://www.genowrite.com home page) yield 404 errors.

I’m wondering where to start with this error and have tried modifying .htaccess to no avail. I would really appreciate any help I can have to the permalinks issue.

Thanks!
