Setting cloned website to “maintenance mode” (domain transfer). Will hidden pages be visible to Google?

[ad_1]

I will be changing my domain name and therefor transferring my old site to another domain with my host (Big Scoots).

I would like to old site to remain up, without forwarding to the new domain, as I want to make changes to the content on the new domain. Once it is ready I’ll forward the old domain but while I am making the changes, I would like to keep it in maintenance mode.

My concern is, will the pages behind the scenes of the new cloned site be visible to Google? I don’t want to hurt my SEO or be recognized with duplicate content.

Thank you in advance.

  1. Use a plugin like – yes it will block google.

When you are ready to do the transfer, use Google’s Change Of Address feature in GSC that will move your google-juice to the new domain.
