Showing a custom post title in category archives… am I asking for too much?

[ad_1]

Hi. I’m having a bit of trouble finding a solution to this predicament I’m having and I’m kinda starting to think maybe I’m asking for too much? 😅 Reaching out here in hope of finding a solution.

So for examples sake, I have a website about baby names. My posts are all titled ‘Meaning of the name X’.

They’re all categorised by alphabet. So there’s categories for ‘Baby names starting with A’, ‘Baby names starting with B’ etc.

So naturally, on the category archives pages for ‘Baby names starting with S’, I’ll have all the names that start with S.

However, I don’t want the posts to appear as ‘Meaning of the name X’. Instead, I’d like it to appear as showing the name. So for eg, I’d like to show ‘Savannah’ instead of ‘Meaning of the name Savannah’. This is so the page looks less cluttered, easier on the eye and just for aesthetic purposes.

This would be a ‘custom’ title I guess, but only to display in the archives. On the post and for SEO purposes, I’d like the title to be ‘Meaning of the name X’

Now, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this and whether this is even possible. I’m afraid I’m not code-savvy, so that certainly doesn’t help, but I’m willing to try as a last resort if there’s no plugin/quick fix.

I’d tremendously appreciate any kind of help or guidance. Hope I’ve explained this well enough to get my t predicament across. Thank you.
