I potentially have the opportunity to maintain a newly created WordPress site. I have no experience with WordPress, but I have worked with PHP and Laravel professionally. I thought that this could be a good first freelance opportunity. I have not seen the source code or am aware of how it operates currently.
Some of the functionality of the site which I believe are from WordPress plugins
– Address/mls number search
– Contact form
– Realtor listing detail page
– Mortgage calculator
I don’t believe there is a database involved from what I can see looking at the site, everything seems to hit a real estate data endpoint that populates the data on the pages.
I have some questions
– How many hours a month can I expect to spend doing maintenance like upgrading dependencies to the lights on.
– Why would the company who built the site not offer to maintain it.
– What are some headaches I can expect to have taking this on.
