What Are the Best Plugins and Themes for Speed Optimization in WordPress?

[ad_1]

Guys, i want to ask you which plugins are you using thesedays for optimization for speed ?

First of all, I use WP Rocket and check whether the themes I use are good in terms of speed. I use Shoptimizer Theme for Woocommerce.

Before uploading the product images, I reduce their size in Photoshop and format them in .webp format with Irfanview.

With the WP query monitor plugin, I replace plugins that have a bad effect on page performance with others.

I don’t usually use CDN because it is expensive. Also, I don’t like applications that do automatic webp.

I use Cloudflare

I use my own virtual server and prefer it to be close to my clients. I do not use shared hosting.

Even though I did these, I still think I am not getting the performance I want. I would like to talk about what your tricks are.

  1. Cloudflare has a free CDN. Taking 20 minutes to set up will have more effect on your performance and everything else you can do in that time.

  2. Like others mentioned there‘s some key info missing here. Where do you think you lack performance? Pageload on the front, admin speed?

The first and most important thing impacting performance of a WordPress page is hosting. Are you running Apache or nginx, what php version, caching, … this goes deep

On page you should follow best practices like image optimization, few and well written plugins, good themes, caching etc. etc.

A CDN can help deliver files faster and some offer tons of other features that strengthen security and reliability of your site.

The last thing after all of that I would look at are optimization plugins. There are some good solutions that help reduce bloat from wp core like perfmatters and similar. But they are just a convenience, you can achieve most things with filters on your own.

    Hope that helps

  3. This is a very loaded subject but if you have a stable/decent server and built your website on say GeneratePress your base real world performance and audit scores wouldn’t be that bad (assuming best practice for content/images etc).

WP Rocket is a very good plugin and it will help but if your server is the bottleneck, there’s a limit to what gains can be had. It feels like your server is the bigger issue here based on your feedback on the admin area being slow.

I have a decent server, build on a decent theme/framework and with WP Rocket I’m building very fast websites (and 100/100 on Google PageSpeed).

My own website is on a decent server and uses WP Rocket but as the website was built on an older theme (that uses WP Bakery page builder) it’s much harder to get the same results. It’s quick but 93/100 on Google PageSpeed and much more effort is required to optimise that site.
