I’ve used WordPress for years, but I’ve always just used pages and posts. Now I’ve been asked to make some suggestions for a site that will have several different types of content that need to be kept separate. Basically there will be four types of content:
* News stories
* Articles
* Talks
* Walks
News stories and articles seem a lot like posts and articles, but talks and walks are are items that will have dates in the future.
They need to be displayed in the following way:
* Two sections on the front page displaying the headline and teaser for the most recent news story and article
* Two sections on the front page displaying the headline and teaser for the next talk and walk
* News and article pages that display the headline and teaser for the news stories and articles (probably needs to be paginated)
* Upcoming talks and upcoming walks pages that list the upcoming talks and walks in chronological order
* Past talks and past walks pages that list the past talks and walks in reverse chronological order
* Individual pages for each news story, article, talk and walk
The site editors will be non-technical people so it would also be good to allow them to have access to edit just specific content types (i.e. the “walks editor” can just edit walks, etc.)
As this is little outside my experience with WP, I’m looking for recommendations on which core features or plugins I could use to implement these features.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
