Solved: Cron Jobs crashing permalinks from an uninstalled YoastSEO plugin that left jobs on, solved by this community and CHATGPT

[ad_1]

I just wanted to post this fix incase anyone ever needs this.

For about two months every 1 and/or 6 days the permalinks on my website (the user account/login, password reset and checkout pages) would fail and return a 404 until the permalinks were "reset" by re-saving them again.

I was losing sleep…

It was almost like clockwork they would fail but I made the mistake of NOT asking this community.

Long story short(ish), I posted this issue and it was recommended to check Cron Jobs. There I saw 10000 (ok not 10000 but many) active Cron Jobs going off at all hours.

I decided to paste the entire list into CHATGPT 4.0o and ask which it thought was the issue. It was 100% correct.

The YoastSEO plugin was what caused it and I turned it off when it first happened however the Cron Jobs stay on.

The offenders were:

wpseo-reindex-links
wpseo-reindex
wpseo_ryte_fetch

Paused them and let the website do it's thing and 2 weeks later no crash.

I sleep better now.

Huge thank you for this community, I'd never had known to try Cron Jobs on the first place.
