The problem is with a CSS file entry from elementor. If there isn’t a setting you can change in that plugin you should ask for help on the elementor support page.

You also need to give a font color to the submenu items in the menu widget in Elementor. Or simply a different design. Here is their documentation on this: https://elementor.com/help/nav-menu-widget-pro/

Thank you all. It was a font colour issue.
The submenu background is white. I had chosen white as my font colour.
I will investigate how to change the background colour of the submenu.
