Hey there, I upload to a wordpress site as a user with limited permissions, and just recently I can no-longer upload files the way I used to. I appear to be the only person in our group of uploaders affected by this and I can’t edit any of the permissions or specs of the site (sorry I’m not too savvy with the terms as I only use it on a basic level)
I recently got a new PC and installed Windows 11 on it. Now, whenever I try to upload a cover for the book I’m adding I get an error. It began as a http error, but now it’s saying the image is too big. The image is fine so I’m wondering what the issue is.
It’s the only website that’s behaving differently now I’m on my new setup. I can also only access it via a VPN but that might be a different issue (it’s http and not https).
Has anyone had any experience with anything like this? I feel like there might be some kind of Windows conflict (firewall?) but I’m not so sure. I’ve tried disabling the firewall and uploading and it still doesn’t work.
This is the error
” The server cannot process the image. This can happen if the server is busy or does not have enough resources to complete the task. Uploading a smaller image may help. Suggested maximum size is 2,560 pixels. ”
I’m positive the image is absolutely fine though. I tried uploading audio to check and I couldn’t do that either. I get this error when I try that :
” Unexpected response from the server. The file may have been uploaded successfully. Check in the Media Library or reload the page. ”
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can update the max file upload size in your php.ini file that can be found in the root directory of your wordpress application. Some web hosts even have a GUI for updating this file.
Sounds like you are an author or editor of the site. You should let the admin/owner know of the issues so they can resolve them.
