super slow to load

[ad_1]

hey everyone, I’m new here and to WordPress and I’m troubleshooting a site for a charity I volunteer with. The site is ridiculously slow to load. .. [companionpaws.ca])

I’m digging around in the Network Tab of Chrome Dev tools but honestly have no idea what I’m doing.

I’ve pasted the problem header and timing info here: [https://support-tools.com/?f98a4782df7fbca5#qkWaXy0g1avF4wq30RkLx/YfuTU1aqZWmjL7r2u98j8=])

Would love your suggestions on how to improve performance and comments on anything obvious in the headers I should be looking for. Very much appreciated.

  1. If you analyze the site with PageSpeed Insights, at the bottom you will find the details of the issues and a drop-down menu with suggestions for each one.

  2. Don’t have my computer handy, but it’s loading pretty quick for me on my phone.

Are you near to or on the east coast of Canada? It may be that your web hosts server is located out here on the west coast side of the continent, and you would likely want them to switch that over to your side if that’s where your target market is.

  3. Nothing to do with hosting provider.

Checked it out on Google insights, your problem is how you built the website. I have a website runs off Hostgator hosting in Texas, and it serves BC, it gets 99 on Google.

How many plugins do you have?

Delete that youtube video, check the file size on all your images.

    What theme are you using?

What speed optimization plugins do you have?

  4. Ignore the people mentioning PageSpeed Insights that’s a front end tester and isn’t going to offer suggestions on solving the huge 32s backend processing time in the dev tools screenshot.

Is that always slow when viewing the home page logged in? Can you install the “query monitor” plugin. It will add a menu item to the admin toolbar with the backend load time and a few more statistic which could be useful checking first. Once installed visit the home page and report back if there are any http requests , or slow queries mentioned in that query monitor tab. That will help to rule out a couple of things.

If you can provide a list of the plugins it might be helpful too.
