Is it just me or does it take super long to load stuff on WordPress. For example, I press the edit button for one of my pages and it takes forever for it to load and sometimes it loads to a white screen. Please help
Are you using Elementor? Easily the laggiest page builder I’ve ever used.
You might need to clean your database up, get a cache plugin, delete random plugins, etc. Small things like that add up if it’s not your browser/pc.
It could be any number of things. The first thing I would check is how much memory your web server has available – cheap shared hosting is almost always the problem.
It you open the Network tab in your browser devtools you will see the operations between your browser, where the Gutenberg editor runs, and the WordPress server, which responds to REST requests from the editor for data, data like the text of the post, categories, authors, whatever. If one particular kind of REST request is super slow, you’re on your way to tracking this down.
If the /readme.html page on your site (https://example.com/readme.html for example if your site were example.com) is super slow, you have a super cheap and nasty hosting provider company.
Are you optimizing your images or are you uploading 4mb 5000x5000pixel pictures? Do you have a cache plugin?
In addition to what others have said about memory, Elementor, etc, different hosting services use different hardware, so some will be faster than others. Also, when you purchase “shared” hosting, the performance can deteriorate during periods of high load amongst the collection of sites sharing the hardware. Many hosting services will offer different packages that have different amounts of CPU resource, RAM etc.
