Hey @qabbbaaa357,
thanks for your report.
I’m answering your questions step by step:
Translation:
Providing just the translation file isn’t enough if you want to translate the admin UI of Simply Static – you will need an JSON file as well (that’s how all of the new WP features are translated).
Thankfully, that’s quite easy, add your po file here and download the JSON file: https://www.wpeform.io/tools/make-po-to-json/
It would be nice if you could provide the translation to us, as we always want to improve Simply Static for other languages.
Scheme:
That’s actually a bug that is going to be fixed today (Fix is there, release is coming).
Ajax:
If you don’t like Ajax, you wouldn’t want all versions of Simply Static prior to 3.0. There was Ajax everywhere.
Simply Static 3.0 removed everything regarding Ajax and now uses React and the WP Rest API instead.
The old UI was horrible, and absolutely nothing we could continue (it was created almost seven years ago). Not sure there was even something like a UX there 😅
Generate and Settings in sidebar:
These are just quick links to make the transition from 2.x to 3.x easier. People are familiar with these submenu entries and we bring them to the correct position within the new settings screens.
I know it’s quite different from the old way we handled things, but for Simply Static to grow (regarding users and new features), it was an unavoidable step.
Simply Static Pro 1.4 and up:
That’s right. Simply Static Pro 1.4 and up requires Simply Static 3 and up.
There is no way to update just one of them at that point (that’s why there is a prominent red notification once you have only updated one of them).
Compatible Plugins:
Oh, it’s still there, but I moved it to the docs: https://simplystatic.com/docs/compatible-plugins/
We will also launch a new version (with search and filter functionality and a lot more supported plugins) later this year.
Elementor:
That’s true, because of the changes within the last couple of updates within Elementor, we had to adjust our crawler accordingly.
Now, we also parse and download:
- minfied styles and scripts from Elementor
- Lottie Files and video files from Elementor
- Additional assets that are lazy-loaded from Elementor
This ultimately increases the number of files we need to fetch if Elementor is used.
I would say we have the best integration with Elementor when it comes to a pagebuilder.
We also take extra care of the block editor (as it ships with WordPress), but in terms of third-party pagebuilders – Elementor should be the way to go with Simply Static.
