There has been a critical error on this website…

[ad_1]

Hello,

I'm getting the message "There has been a critical error on this website" when I try to bring up my site. No email or anything to help. I really don't have the experience or time to try to troubleshoot this. The website was created for me by a friend. I want to hire an organization that is trustworthy and reliable to solve this for me. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Tiffany

  1. You can find freelancers on Upwork or Fiverr to help with this, or you can ask here for someone to direct message you.

  2. Sounds like a database issue. You can deal with it, P h p myadmin. Cut the plugins off, in the database via phpmyadmin.

  3. If you have cpanel or ftp access upload a fresh copy of wordpress over the existing. It won’t overwrite your theme or settings or posts. This usually resolves most issues like this IME

  4. If you can access hosting files, find wp-config.php in your WP directory and search for ‘debug’ in the file and set it to true.

Now when you refresh the error you’ll see more info. Don’t forget to set it back to false afterwards 🙂

  5. I recently had this issue. I utilized the debug process through SiteGround.
My issue was a bad line of code on my theme.
Changing my theme revived my site so I knew it was theme related.
If you go through debug process and then open your site on browser mine gave me the specific line of error

  6. Easiest way to fix this is to find the plugin causing the error. Log into your hosting account file manager or ftp and changes the name of the plugin folder. This will disable all plugins (and break the site) but it should allow you to log in. Once you log back in fix the plugin file name change by changing it back and then one at a time re-enable your plugins and update any that need it. When you find the culprit either update it or replace it and you are usually good.

  7. Made any code changes, eg inserting something into functions.php? Usually when I get this it’s because I goofed when I added some code.

Edit: if that doesn’t uncover anything, also check your error log (the location varies depending on your host, mine is generally in the root directory of my wordpress installation). The error message is probably going to be cryptic, but get that in the hands of someone who knows a bit of coding and they’ll at least know what file is triggering the error and where to look in the file.for the problem.

  8. In your cpanel
    Go to WordPress management

Disable all plugin one by one krep checking website. Do the same for theme until your website is up.

  9. Any chance you can ask your hosting provider? They often see this case and most of the good providers can help you solve this

  10. Generally, you’d check the apache, nginx, iis, whatever web logs you have for the 500 errors your getting, or you’d check the syslogs on the server for possible out-of-memory (OOM) or other OS related issues.

  11. You can hire some developers from the following links:

I have had good experiences with FixRunner.com, and they don’t charge you until the task is successfully finished, but you can follow these points to hire the right person for your needs:

  12. Folk, you don’t need to post too many comments for such a common problem that can easily find using Google. This happened to most WP website.
