Three questions about the upload folder:
1. Is there any reason not to lock it down from direct linking to images, pdfs, etc in the wp-content/uploads/ folder? Any unintended consequences?
2. I use Yoast SEO and let it change media links from custom pages to direct links. Does that change the answer above?
3. Any reason why doing the above in code or using a plugin is a better choice? I’m leaning toward doing it in code since this does not seem like something that will require much maintenance (bonus questions: accurate or foolish thinking?)
For clarity, my plan is to restrict access via the .htaccess file in the root folder of WordPress. Nothing fancy, I do not see files.
