Transition

[ad_1]

Situation:

There’s a client with an active site which needs to be updated but he doesn’t want to stop the site for the update since it’s bringing a lot of money. Can I just create a site design and then just move that site on the updated one? And if so how? Also can I just update the site piece by piece? WordPress

  1. Create a full backup with something like Duplicator Pro. And then try updating everything one by one. If at any place you think something isn’t right, restore the full backup.

It will be easier this way

  2. You can do that:

    – by using a staging environment (it would be the simplest solution, according to my experience) – I usually create a staging copy of the website in our SiteGround hosting’s account, This would allow you to work on the updates without affecting the live site – apply your design and content updates (or whatever else) on that staging site, test it out and push changes live,

    – or via migration / backup plugin (e.g. All in one WP migration we have been using) in a way that you clone/duplicate the site to some subdomain (you created), and after you update all needed, migrate the finished site to the production domain.
