I recently took over the website administration for a small charter school. I have some familiarity with WordPress, but I’ve been playing around in the backend here and finding myself lost.
The site is running on Twenty Twenty-Three and appears to be built with Elementor. The headers and footers live in the WordPress site editor.
I like the overall style and branding of the site, but I want to make some content changes and create new pages. When I try to create a new page with Elementor, the header doesn’t look right. It’s just imported text from the “Site Identity” with no menu.

When I try to manipulate pages in the site editor, the header looks okay but everything else is code, even when I select “Visual Editor”.

The existing pages have these big banner images and I can’t figure out what kind of element they are or how to edit them. I can edit the text but not the image behind it.

I don’t know if the screenshots are helpful. Maybe I just need a tutorial on the relationship between theme, editor, page builder, and templates… but I’ve spent a few days struggling with it all and found myself lost.
Here’s the website: [https://thebrillianceschool.org/])
It’s not a complicated site. Any advice on what’s going on here and how to find a framework that preserves the existing style while making simple content edits?
TIA
