Anyone else having issues with Twitter links no longer embedding correctly? Whenever I have pasted a Twitter link into the editor, it has generated a nice embedded card. However, **yesterday this stopped working**. I noticed this first on a corporate site for my employer, but then tested this on several of my own sites and had the same problem. In searching, I see I’m not alone and that people have been having issues for much of the past week:

* [https://twittercommunity.com/t/issue-with-twitter-oembed-api-when-accessed-from-digitalocean-droplets/194215])
* [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/twitter-embeds-failing/])
From what I gather, it seems the OEmbed call to Twitter is getting a 40x response and so WordPress can’t generate the HTML “card”.
Are others experiencing this issue? Is this perhaps related to Twitter’s new restrictions on API access?
\*\*UPDATE\*\*: I’d just note that ideally I would move away from embedding tweets entirely, however, in one particular use case I need to link to media news and unfortunately many of the media sites are still staying on Twitter.

Unfortunately, this is not a WordPress issue.
WordPress embeds are based on responses given by the service in question. If the service is down or returning faulty information, then WordPress can’t do anything about it.
If Twitter embeds are not working, then Twitter has to fix it. Or not, depending on if it’s intentional or not…
You can always go back to the days of sharing screenshots.
Pretty much, since the whole Twitter API vhanged and now is paid I stopped being able to embed tweets. I would think it is intentional so I’m just avoiding Twitter lately for that…if I have to I just link to the tweet
Twitter are now requiring paid accounts for certain access.
