Thanks for your question. I haven’t encountered the .ged extension – I don’t see it in MLA’s list of known file types.
You can easily add the extension to MLA’s list. Here are the steps to follow:
- Navigate to the Settings/Media Library Assistant “Uploads” tab.
- Scroll down to the “Add New Upload MIME Type” section on the left side of the page.
- Enter “ged” in the extension text box. Do not enter the leading dot.
- Enter the MIME type you want to assign to these files.
- Pick an appropriate icon to represent the files, e.g., as a thumbnail. You can always choose “default”.
- Leave the “Inactive” box unchecked.
- Enter any notes you like in the Documentation text area, e.g., “For the GedShow plugin.”.
- Click the “Add Upload MIME Type” button to record your new type.
I hope that gives you the information you need for your application. I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have problems or further questions regarding the above process or MLA’s support for file extensions and MIME Types. Thanks for your interest in MLA.
