Ok, back again…
Background – my team manages a 200+ site multisite corporate intranet site, and we need to develop an intranet theme that’s compatible with Gutenberg, and also to develop some standardized blocks that are reusable across the whole multisite install.
I’ve looked at a bunch of page builders, but none seem to offer a multisite master theme capability, and are often requiring license keys on each individual site. Several of the big page builders claim multisite, but what they really mean is you can network install it, and not share theme work across sites.
I’ve looked at Oxygen specifically, and it would be great if it could be used to create a master theme, but that capability doesn’t seem to exist. Oxygen does have an option to export style pieces, but you’d still have to import them on each site.. (not gonna happen on 200+ sites).
So what I need:
* Gutenberg compatibility, but with custom designed blocks (I need to lock down certain content pieces, so site maintainers aren’t trying to design all these pieces themselves)
* Master theme that applies to all sites
* Some sort of visual builder tools to develop and maintain the theme. (I’m not doing full time theme development, so staffing the php and js skills for theme development isn’t something I want to staff for).
* Some level of future proofing so if the theme goes bad, the “content” is still readable on pages and posts.
Any ideas?
