Want to save external copy of website

[ad_1]

Hey all,

I normally do SEO work, but know a little bit around creating a WordPress site. I took on a client who wanted me to build their site then do some SEO work after I was finished.

I created about 90% of the site, showed client the progress and they said they really liked the job I did. After requesting some additional info from them for the site they completely ghosted me. Won’t answer text and hangs up every time I ring for weeks. I want to know if there’s a way to save the site somewhere so that I can nuke it on their end so they won’t have access to it. We agreed to have them pay after the job is done, which I assume isn’t happening (my mistake, I know) so I at least want to put this into my portfolio.

  1. I use the duplicator plugin to make full backups that are easily installable elsewhere, even locally using wamp.

  2. As a side note, it sounds like adding an anti-ghosting clause in a contract would be a good idea, when one party is waiting for a response from the other party, to proceed on the project.

I have a good faith clause, that may cover a situation where the other party is not acting in good faith, by not responding, without good cause, such as an illness, death, or emergency.

My web hosting provider offers a staging area for previewing work in progress before production release. They include nightly backups of production websites. I haven’t used the staging feature, so I haven’t confirmed if it is included in the nightly backups.

I also do periodic downloads of my website files for a local offline backup copy, stored in a fireproof safe.
