Website hosted on Wp-Engine is awfully slow. What should I do?

Hi,

I have an e-commerce site hosted on wp-engine that is dreadfully slow when loading any pages. I turned on ‘object cache’ by a support agent’s suggestion, and it helped a tiny bit, but otherwise my website has never been snappy. It’s not a complicated or big site, either, so I don’t know what’s going on.

I’ve talked to support, and they moved me to a different shared server a couple of months ago, but it’s still the same issue.

Recently, support says they checked the shared server and see no issues. They did however say that when they check my site on ‘pagespeed insight’s, that it appears I need to get a bunch of issues fixed. The problem is that I’ve showed a couple developers on fiverr this insight page and let them take a look at my backend, and they say that with my theme “bridge child” and the 34 plugins in the backend, that it’s not possible. The developers also seem to keep blaming my shared hosting at Wp-Engine.

I tried to use wp-optimize plugin to minify the CSS, java and low text to HTML, and it broke the site.

I don’t know what to do because I keep getting bounced back and forth like a ping pong ball between support and any developer I find on fiverr.

The reason I went with wp-engine in the first place is because I read that their support is great but more importantly, they have a very good system for auto updating plugins and backups etc. It’s just a very nice backend to work with. The only problem is this very slow website issue I can’t seem to solve.

Any suggestions? I need to fix this asap.
