I need to learn the modern way of theming: Suggested Resources?

I’ve mostly been theming from the older method. I’m creating a new theme and I want to follow current standards.

Does anyone know of any training courses or, better yet, books, on the topic? I need to focus on blocks and patterns. Thanks in advance.
