I don't really know what Brave Shield exactly does. But with their shield on it my website is super fast. Without the Brave Shield it takes a while to load. What optimization technique do i need to use in order for this to also be fast without Brave Shield? Some sort of JS optimization?
Please let me know. Desperate for advice.
the shield likely blocks ads and analytics scripts on your site. you should either remove or defer those scripts. in some cases external ad scripts can make up as much as 90% of your page size and spawn hundreds of assets, and you have no control over what they will load. defer or async will make sure the scripts don’t block page rendering, but there is still going to be a performance hit.
As it was already said brave shield removes cookies, trackers, scripts, analytics scripts etc.
If that doesn’t tell you anything it could be a plugin you have installed. In wordpress troubleshooting always starts with disabling your plugins one by one (or disabling them all and enabling one by one) in order to find the culprit.
As others have said, Brave Shield blocks stuff. To see what’s being blocked, open up the Inspector, switch to the network tab and reload the page. A list of assets being loaded is then presented and anything blocked will be clearly marked as such.
