What are some new and upcoming Plugins that are hidden gems that you have discovered that are not yet mainstream ?

WordPress Plugins are my hobby, I am curious to know what Plugins people have recently discovered that are truly hidden gems in terms of quality and functionality, yet have not yet become mainstream.

Would you care to share any Plugins that are true gems that add great functionality and solve a problem but are not yet mainstream ?

  1. Personally I don’t think any “new” plugins can be good. The good plugins need a lot of usage, bug fixing, refining and improvements. I always tell customers do NOT install plugins unless they have many many installs, 5* reviews, recent updates and been around for a long time. This is very important.

This does mean it’s hard for new plugins to break through but tough… it takes time to build a successful service or business model don’t go thinking anyone can be a one night success with plugins.

  2. WPCodeBox, is a great snippet manager, allows you to export to a custom plugin and then uninstall the snippet manager part. So my answer is this because it can be ANY plugin you make it.

  3. I’m targeting Reader users with my posts. Most people read my stuff either with a Reader or with the WordPress mobile app, which makes using plugins unnecessary for now.

  4. I’ve got a bajillion of them listed in my pagespeed guide for every feature under the sun, 99% of them are entirely free and on the WordPress repo. I generally abhor paid plugins, and I keep them to the absolute minimum. I have 1100 unique urls in my 340 page guide (it’s a novel length book really), I have a lot of little known plugins in there:

Please let me know if you have any requests for functionality that isn’t listed, I’m happy to do some research and find a performant option. I can’t stop, won’t stop, Gamestop making it better.

  5. I find it crazy that just the repo has now over 60k Plugins, I mean it isn’t even humanely possible to just read what each plugin does let alone try it. I am curious to see what will come in the age of AI in terms of quality plugins. I am not talking about some page builder AI joke. I am talking about actual computing power provided by AI to achieve a goal, maybe in CRM. I don’t know. But anytime I have free time, I find myself browsing the .org to see what is out there.
