Hey,
I really want to learn building wordpress sites and want to get good at it. Maybe in the future I want to sell them to local businesses (but only when I’m able to deliver decent sites). I don’t have any html/css experience. Since a few days I’m researching and I learned a little bit of very basic html/css. But I heard/read a lot of times that real coding isn’t necessary for building basic websites (I want to create mostly 5 pages websites for barbershops/backeries..). So: What should I learn at first? Is it really necessary to get really good at html/css/js… or should I learn building websites with a page builder at first? I thought about learning Elementor but there are so many options of different page builders. I would really appreciate any help and I also know that there are a lot of new people asking the same questions but there are so much different answers and I don’t know what I should do at first. Thank you

To become good WordPress developer you really need HTML, CSS, JS – it will open your a lot of more options. Also you will be able to work with ALL CMS not only WordPress.
To build basics websites you can just learn Elementor or DIVI as page builders (I prefer DIVI). These are just themes where you can build everything you want without coding.
Not ADS. But I mentor young developers – you can simply build something ask me questions. I check your questions, create tutorials for you, check your work and tell issues you have and help to build what you can’t build.
Here is my youtube [Debular Websites – YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/@debularwebsites)
The best way to learn how to build – is start build.
First thing you need to do is find your stack… and by that I mean what plugins you will use to build your site.
I personally start with Bricks Builder, as it’s miles better than elementor or divi and performs much better to boot. Once you have this decided, it’s time to start learning… rebuild other sites to practice.
I remember when my wife and I started learning WordPress back in 2011, we were overwhelmed with many options and a variety of tools we could use, and everyone was convincing us that exactly their tools are the best tools, and other sucked.
It was very hard to get through that “forrest” of those (often) conflicting information. It took us years to find what was the best for us, our knowledge, skills and, very important, our budget. You can take a look here for some [tools that we use](https://new.reddit.com/r/WordPress_org/comments/147gt1q/must_have_wordpress_plugins_and_themes/), and [tutorials](https://new.reddit.com/r/WordPress_org/comments/147qits/wordpressfriendly_trainings_for_beginners/) we put together for our clients, to give you some ideas, but you will need to test tools you think are worth doing it, to find what is really the best for YOU and your situation.
Good luck on your journey, don’t be afraid, we are all here to help out if you “stuck” somewhere, or you have some doubts, possibly we could help you with our so far experiences. 🙂
PS It would be very useful to have some additional knowledge of HTML, CSS and even PHP; if possible, and if you can’t acquire it – at least to have some people in your team that could cover it, like we have it. 🙂
