What to do about spam traffic?

[ad_1]

My WordPress website is getting random referral spam traffic from Poland, about 100 visitors a day. I checked to see if I was getting random comments, login attempts or form fills and that’s not the case.

Should I find a way to get rid of these? And what do you think is the best option? I noticed it lowers my bounce and engagement rates on Analytics, so I am afraid it could damage my SEO, does anyone know the best practice for this?

Thanks!!!

  1. Welcome to the Internet. It is completely normal to get bot traffic. Some bots are friendly and others are just on autopilot looking for an exploit.

Google Analytics is pretty good at filtering out bot traffic but if you feel the need to protect your site then install WordFence.

Overall don’t worry about it. Focus on your business.

  2. Yandex (Russian Google) has been very active lately, with network magic making the scans appear to come from Poland. I don’t think that it will hurt your SEO.

  3. Install some form of comment & form protection like reCaptcha, a honeypot, or CleanTalk – or just turn off comments altogether.

  4. Cloudflare WAF and reject all Poland based IPs ? I have a managed WAF for anyone outside my sales zone, IE my country’s IP
