I use a combination of Sitekit + WP statistics to track my websites analytics, however the latest wp statistics update has made the plugin very unstable across multiple sites that i use.
Cant ignore it anymore but i need a plugin that tracks all our website's visitors data as comprehensively as it did,
What plugin do you suggest?
GA (via Site Kit). I’m not seeing any issues with Site Kit in the latest ver of WP… or were you referring to WP Stats?
Try checking MonsterInsights or ExactMetrics

Not a plugin, but Cloudflare is fine for basic analytics. Or Check out plausible
GA analytics is by far the best. It takes a lot of time and effort to set it up to a granular level but it is very powerful.

The Independent Analytics plugin is great if you want to keep your data in-house. Makes GDPR compliance easier too (no need for cookie banner)
Please don’t use Sitekit. It’s ridiculous slow. It takes less than 2 minutes to add the GTM code to header.php, no plugin required.
none. there isn’t a reason you need to compile this within the wordpress dashboard. just use GA or Quantcast
I wasn’t happy with most of the plugins out there (bloat, ads, or having to connect it to a GA account, etc) so built my own which lets me add Tag Manger code and embed a Looker Studio report I built that’s accessible in the back end. Makes it super easy for our clients to see their analytics.

Personally, I think it’s best to avoid a plugin that can bog down your site. Google Analytics, which is installed via code, will do the job. Sure you can’t see it in your dashboard, but why do you need it there?
I like Matomo – it’s free unless you want to add some premium plugins. You can host it separately (recommended) or use their WP plugin.
I use self hosted Plausible analytics because my goal was to keep data on my own hardware, they have a paid non self hosted version too but I havnt tried it. Overall I really like it
