What’s your opinion of Theme Forst site templates? Recommendations appreciated

[ad_1]

Hey there,

So I’m considering trying a Theme Forst template because I need to get a site up and running pretty quickly.

Just would like to know if Theme Forest is worth it?
Then also any tips when picking a site template.

  1. I would suggest using Elementor, or use Gutenberg, which is built into WordPress. Both options will let you spin up a site quickly.

  2. You mean themes? TF doesn’t sell templates AFAIK.

I’d recommend only buying one of the top seller themes [https://themeforest.net/top-sellers]) – they have huge numbers of installs, good support and regular updates.

  3. The only downside for me is that the themes sometimes aren’t updated anymore and some have specific plugins that are necessary for them to work and these plugins become a problem (for example when you want to update from php 7 to 8 or a newer version of woocommerce).

Otherwise I recommend using templates for smaller projects as they usually save me a lot of time and allow me to price the website quite low.

I am very honest with my customers though that I am using a template and explain the advantages.

  4. On top of the other advice here, I would say try to look into how “developer friendly” the theme is. It is inevitable that most websites using a pre-made theme will run into situations where they want some custom work done that the theme could not have anticipated. If the theme is dev friendly, you have a good chance of hiring a freelancer for 1-2 hours to get your custom job done.
