Why are WordPress website changes so limited?

[ad_1]

I have some experience with other platforms in the past, but I’ve decided to give WordPress a shot, I am currently still using its free services, and I’m surprised by how few changes I can make to my website, my plan was to start with a theme and evolve from there, but I can barely change anything, just content, photos, headers, and a few other things. Is this because I am using the free version or is WordPress truly this limited?

  1. Free services? Another ‘victim’ of WordPress.com?
If you want true freedom and control over your website with near infinite expandability host it yourself on a hosting package that suits your needs. 😉
    Take a look at http://www.wordpress.org.

  2. “I am currently still using its free services, and I’m surprised by how few changes I can make”
That’s because you’re using the free, hosted version.

You need to go to [wordpress.org](https://wordpress.org) and download from there, then you’ll have full control over every aspect, depending on your skill set of course.

  3. If you are using [wordpress.com](https://wordpress.com) then yes it is limited in what you can do since it is a fully managed / hosted service.

If you are using wordpress cms then sky is the limit, you can customize anything.
