So let’s say I have a bail bonds business.
How bail bonds work is that, someone goes to jail, they have a bond amount (we will use $5000 for this example). When someone decides to bail them out and they go through a bail bondsman, they typically will pay a premium on that (10% plus $80 in jail fees) so if someone is wanting to go that route, they would pay $580. And then pay in installments over time for the remainder. The problem with that, of course, is that they typically do not pay in installments over time lol due to not caring/forgetting/etc. Our idea is to use almost an Afterpay, Zip, Klarna kinda thing… but for bonds. So on our website we would list an item, “Bail Bonds” or whatever, and list it for $1, $10, what have you. When we go to the jail, as we’re getting their usual information, we also make them an account and add that item x however much the bond is. We’ll then have a feature that allows payment plans, hoping to find one that’s really customizable so we can change the installment amounts and time between payments, etc. The person bonding them out will then pay the initial deposit (the premium in this case, $580) and will be notified that the remainder will be paid in x amount of installments overtime until paid in full, and how much each will be. If the billing fails, it will keep trying until it does.
But this way, it’s easier on the client, and us. We have an easy way of seeing who isn’t paying and why and how much they still owe. If there’s an issue we have all their info in one place so we can contact them. If we see that their billing failed we can reach out and give them an extended time frame if necessary.
My issue is getting this all together, finding the right plugins, and wondering if there’s an easier way (besides having it listed as $1 and just adding 5000 of that item to the cart lol). Anyone have any suggestions or other ideas?
