Word press.com did I make a mistake ???

[ad_1]

I feel very overwhelmed with this.
I started a blog (2 weeks ago) something I intend to commit to for the next year and really try to grow in my niche.

I started on a WordPress.com creator package to build my blog.

I purchased a domain through word press

xxxxxxxxxx.com

After learning more about self hosting and the advantages for someone who would like to monetise. Does this sound like a good plan?

1 Transfer domain to blue host

2 Purchasing hosting from blue host

3 Migrate my blog (I will probably pay blue hot the fee to do this for me)

Carry on blogging ?

  1. No, stay where you are. Blog. Blog every day. Do what you set out to do. Worry about the host if you have problem. Right now, I don’t see the problem. Chill.

  2. Stay where you are. Set the foundation for the year you are paying for. You are getting ahead of yourself.

If you decide later that you want to move, then do so (but don’t go with Bluehost -There are a plethora of good hosts that will migrate you for free).

  3. Opinions will differ on this matter and I say switch now. Having your self hosted setup with no restrictions not only saves you money and gives you freedom but also lets you start on a solid foundation that is setup correctly from the get go. It will potentially be much more annoying and disruptive to shift after you get established.

I would avoid Bluehost, GoDaddy (at all costs) etc. but it depends on your budget if that’s all you can afford it’s still better.

I’m personally with Siteground but there are other options like Cloudways that come recommended from the community. Check r/webhosting for more details on the best hosting options.
