I need some assistance on understanding WordPress capabilities. Here is what I am looking to do:
1. Have users create a profile
2. I have Airtable data with one table that has information on a Brand and items associated with that brand. The second table I have are suggestions to users of different utilizations of the items they selected initially.
3. The user experience would look something like:
1. User selects brand from a dropdown
2. User selects item associated with the brand from a second dropdown (second dropdown is conditional based on the selection from the first drop down)
3. User then adds that item to their “Inventory” associated with their profile
4. Once all items are added, user can have the system generate recommendations based of the items in their “inventory” (the recommendations table lives in Airtable)

Question for everyone here:
Is this something WordPress has capability to do? If so, how much of this will be customization? Would love to chat with anyone that has experience/knowledge of this! Thanks!

WordPress might be capable of this, but as an experienced WordPress developer I don’t think I would not recommend it. At least not as a permanent solution. As a temporary stepping stone in order to check demand engagement and to interest investors maybe. But it ain’t going to be cheap.
What you are looking for is very specialized application, I would approach a development company to see if you can get an idea of budget for a custom application.
For WordPress to do this: Buddy Press for profiles, I suspect you will need to connect the data into the WordPress database so a Zap between Airtable and Formidable Pro (as one form example I know can do relational dropdowns). As for budget there is also design, custom theme and then programming. I would guesstimate $7000-$12000. But this is without looking at anything concretely.
