WordPress.com vs .org for a blog

[ad_1]

I have absolutely no experience using the original version of WordPress, only that of the hosting version. I am already familiar with .com and am happy to pay for the creator subscription which allows importing themes and adding plugins. So my question is what am I missing out on if I choose to go for WordPress.com for my blog instead of using the open sourced .org version?

Note: I also hope to monetize in the future what’s the differences in difficulty there aswell?

  1. If you’re happy with .com and don’t have much knowledge to handle hosting yourself stay with it.

On the other hand, many WP hosting providers have 1-click WordPress installation available which makes it a no brainier. Staying with .com might cause you some issues or additional costs in the future if you want to add new functionality as some of the plans don’t allow you to freely change anything you want which is not the case for .org.

  2. I would strongly suggest to go with self hosted WordPress.org. Because it’s scalable and cheap compared to .com.
